Jock's Juke Joint Vol3

The third volume of the critically acclaimed and award nominated series of Scottish Blues, “Jock’s Juke Joint” will be released by Lewis Hamilton Music in early May 2013. Building on the strengths of the first two volumes, the series is completed by the broadest range of blues based artists based in, or emanating from Scotland. The album opens with a track from the forthcoming third solo album of British Blues Award Nominee for Young Artist of the Year, Lewis Hamilton. Prominently featured are the acoustic blues of Lights Out By Nine frontman Al Hughes, the Southern rock and boogie of John Bruce’s Safehouse, a melancholic ballad by Linda Jaxson and popular Edinburgh based Main Street Blues. The multi facets of the blues genre are explored through the west coast swing of The Blues Devils, The Afghan Hounds’ rock blues, Harmonica Lewinksy’s old-fashioned R'n'B and the pre-war styled Souled Out Blues. The contemporary sounding Leona Rae and GT Boos Band contrast with the Gospel flavoured rock n roll of The Shiverin’ Sheiks and melodic Americana by the Red Pine Timber Company. The album features Englishman John Hunt who rose to prominence since arriving in Scotland and also Scots who have risen to prominence elsewhere. The Stumble are established on the British scene and for the first time, Jock’s Juke Joint incorporates Scots based overseas. These include Chicago based Brian Carpy from Glasgow, Paisley born cellist Calum Ingram now resident in New York; and Robbie Hill from Fife, based in Finland. Such is the anticipation for the final volume of the Jock's Juke Joint trilogy; it was selected as album of the month for April by the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association. This has seen songs from the album aired on every show broadcast during April by 20 of the UK’s leading independent blues DJs. The album is dedicated to Laurie Hamilton, Lewis’ uncle who was one of the finest jazz guitarists in Scotland and George Watt of Big George & The Business. Jock’s Juke Joint is an exciting and varied collection of original contemporary Scottish blues music, based on the theme of a fictitious Scottish Juke Joint. The two earlier volumes of the series which were released in 2012 have garnered a high level of interest in the international blues scene. This includes airplay more than a dozen countries on 70 radio shows. Within the UK coverage, Jock’s Juke Joint has received critical acclaim from publications such as Blues Matters, Classic Rock Presents The Blues, Maverick Country, Blues In Britain and The Herald. The series has been praised internationally by Blues Revue (USA), Blues Underground Network (Canada), Wasser Prawda (Germany), Keys & Chords (Belgium) and Blues Magazine (Holland). Available from each of the featured acts and through Amazon and Itunes, Jock’s Juke Joint has created a greater level of interest in the Scottish blues scene. Jock’s Juke Joint Volume 2 had been nominated as album of the year in the British Blues Awards while five of the artists featured in the series received preliminary notifications in the song writer’s award. Maryport Festival has dedicated a stage to the artists involved in the project who also feature prominently at other events such as the Thornhill Music Festival, The Edinburgh Guitar and Music Festival and the Leith Festival.
